Site information: Tabor

There are different traditions with the identity of the "high mountain". Some hold that it was Mt Hermon, others consider Mt Tabor as the location.  Due to its central location, Mt Tabor seems like a more plausible candidate for the Holy mountain - "the mount of Transfiguration".

Mount Tabor is strategically located on the main north-south ancient road. It was the stage for many old testament events. It was also an important fortress during the First and Second Temple, Greek and Roman times.
